The International Congress REENCON-XXI "Renewable Energy-XXI Century: Energy and Economic Efficiency" discussed current issues of the global energy transition to green technologies and the consequences of this transition for energy, ecology and economy.
On June 5-6, the 4th International Congress REENCON-XXI "Renewable Energy –XXI Century: Energy and Economic Efficiency" was held on the sidelines of the Skolkovo Innovation Center, dedicated to the Global Energy Transition to green technologies and the consequences of this transition for energy, ecology, economy and society.The Congress is organized by the Higher School of Economics, the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Skolkovo Foundation. 20 major Russian and foreign companies, a number of foundations, 25 embassies of European countries, about 20 national and international organizations (including UNECE, EES CIS, EEC, IRENA, REN-21, WWEA, DENA, GIZ, DWIH, GSC, EUBIA), 15 universities and research centers took part in the preparation and holding of the Congress. The co-organizers and partners were Wind Energy Management Company LLC, the Foundation for Infrastructure and Educational Programs, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, DENA, GIZ, and DWIH.
800 participants of the Congress from more than 20 countries of the world considered numerous issues on the agenda of the Congress at 2 plenary and 11 specialized sessions and 5 round tables. 80 leading experts from 20 foreign countries shared their experience on the issues under consideration.

Andrey Sharonov, President of the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo, organized a lively discussion on trends and prospects for the development of renewable energy sources (RES) in Russia and the world. First Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexey Texler, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Adnan Amin, Director General of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Nature Protection and Nuclear Safety of Germany Carsten Sah, Chairman of the Management Board of RUSNANO Management Company Anatoly Chubais, Head of ENEL in Russia Carlo Palasciano Villamagna discussed the future of Russian renewable energy sources.
Particular attention was paid to the discussion of the effectiveness of measures to support the development of renewable energy in Russia and the need for further development of renewable energy beyond 2024 in the paradigm "from localization of equipment production to export". The speakers of the plenary sessions, as well as the participants of the Round Table "From localization to Export: support for the development of renewable Energy after 2024" agreed that the key priorities for the development of renewable energy in Russia should be to support the development and development of advanced technologies and competencies, as well as to increase the export of high - tech products.
The section "Energy supply of isolated, sparsely populated, remote and hard-to-reach settlements using RES and energy storage" was actively moderated by representatives of the NP "EUROSOLAR Russia" Alexey Kaplun and George Kekelidze. Participants from the regions, representatives of the ministries of Russia, Germany and the United Kingdom, and leading industry companies joined forces for the timely implementation of the national project of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation "Energy supply of remote and isolated territories".
The German House of Science and Innovation in Moscow together with the NP "EUROSOLAR Russia" organized a round table "Commercialization and financing of R&D" with reports by the Acting Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Mintsaev M. Sh., Head of the London Energy Investment Fund Professor Charles Hendry, etc. The Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Industry and Trade were invited to fulfill their obligations under the full membership of the Russian Federation in the EUREKA international program for the development of innovative technologies in various branches of science and industry.
Within the framework of the Congress, the second Russian-European conference on climate and energy transition "New Paradigm" was held, organized by the Energy Center of the SKOLKOVO Business School in partnership with the Embassies of Germany, Finland, Italy, and Sweden. Discussions were organized on key topics related to new energy and climate, including decarbonization and EU-Russia cooperation on climate regulation and implementation in the framework of the" energy transition "green cities with a positive energy balance climate change in the Arctic and responses to related challenges business opportunities related to the energy transition.
Following the results of the Congress and the Conference, a Report will be prepared to the Government of the Russian Federation with recommendations on the development of renewable energy in Russia, as well as on the tasks and directions of international cooperation with countries of the near and far abroad in the field of renewable energy.
